Joel Harper-Jackson has revealed that he is working on his debut album!

During last week’s episode of In The Frame – West End Frame’s interviews podcast – Joel revealed that once he completes his current run at Charlie Price in the UK tour of Kinky Boots, he is going to begin working on an album.

“I’m going to put it out on streaming sites, but it’s not for anyone else”, Joel said. “It’s more for myself… and my mum of course [laughs]. It’s songs that I want to sing.

“I’m completely funding it myself, I’ve got my guy Greg (Morton) who I’ve worked with before and we’re just going to take our time. It’s all going to be piano, guitar, cello and maybe some drums. It’s going to be very simple and songs that I love.”

Joel also teased that the album may include an original song, as he has been writing with his Kinky Boots co-star Kayi Ushe, who plays Lola, whilst on tour.

“Kayi is the most talented person I’ve ever met. We’ve lived together quite a bit, there’s been times where I’ve dreamt up a song and we’ve created up 40 seconds of something. You never know, one of my songs may make a little appearance.”

You can stream Joel’s episode of In The Frame via Apple PodcastsSpotify, Google Podcasts or you can Listen Online. You can also find In The Frame via Tune In, Overcast, Castro and Castbox.
