Posted by After appearing on The X Factor (ITV), theatre producer Sonia Friedman invited Karen to audition for the role of Effie White in Dreamgirls.
Karen went on to make her West End debut as one of Amber Riley’s alternates in the original West End production of Dreamgirls at the Savoy Theatre. She took over as Effie White for the show’s second year, alongside Marisha Wallace and Moya Angela.
After completing Dreamgirls‘ run, Karen played Sophia in The Color Purple (Leicester Curve / Birmingham Hippodrome). She recently reprised her performance for the digital concert production.
