Interview: Georgina Hagen, Mary Brown in But I’m A Cheerleader

Georgina Hagen is currently starring as Mary Brown in But I’m A Cheerleader at the Turbine Theatre. 

First presented as part of MTFestUK in 2019, But I’m A Cheerleader received its official premiere at  the Turbine Theatre earlier this year and is now back for a second run. The show has book and lyrics by Bill Augustin, music by Andrew Abrams and direction by Tania Azevedo.

As a child actor, Georgina played Kate/Molly in Annie (Victoria Palace) and Liesl & understudy Jemima in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (London Palladium).

In 2008, Georgina starred as Lauren in the ITV musical series Britannia High. Her theatre credits include: Meat in We Will Rock You (UK Tour), Dinah and then Pearl in Starlight Express (Bochum, Germany), Mistress in Evita (Ljubljana Festival),  Shelley Parker in Batboy (Southwark Playhouse), Nancy in Groundhog Day (Old Vic), Sister Berthe in The Sound of Music (UK Tour) and Sister Margaretta/Frau Zeller and understudy Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music (International).

Most recently Georgina played Ms Fleming & Veronica’s Mum in Heathers on its UK Tour before transferring to the London production at The Other Palace.
