Olivier nominee Maiya Quansah-Breed is starring as Philoclea in the UK premiere of Head Over Heels at the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester.

Described as a “hilarious, exuberant celebration of love” and featuring songs by The Go-Gos, Head Over Heels follows the escapades of a royal family on an outrageous journey to save their beloved kingdom from extinction—only to discover the key to their realm’s survival lies within each of their own hearts.

Maiya originated the role of Catherine Parr in Six The Musical. She starred in the show’s first UK tour, which included a run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, before opening the West End production at the Arts Theatre. Alongside the original line-up of queens, Maiya was nominated for the 2019 Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical.

Last year Maiya reunited with the original cast of Six for three special performances at Hampton Court Palace, before filming a live capture of the musical at the Vaudeville Theatre. She and the original queens have formed the girl group SVN.

Maiya’s other theatre credits include Mimi in Rent (Hope Mill Theatre), I Could Use A Drink In Conert (Garrick Theatre),  Laura in The Distance You Have Come (Apollo Theatre) and Martha in The Secret Garden In Concert (London Palladium).

Head Over Heels runs at the Hope Mill Theatre until 4th March 2023. Visit for info and tickets.
